What
Revises the manual's Part I (chapters 1 and 2, eight section files) to restore warmth, aspiration, and a human presence, and adds a matching rule to
documents/reference/voice_for_models.mdso the register holds through future passes. Facts, Phi examples, IPA, and structure are unchanged throughout; this is a register revision.The diagnosis it applies
The opening chapters stated the same boundary, that grammar promises nothing and the speaker does the work, at least eleven times across nine files. Each instance was honest; together they were a disclaimer heartbeat under the manual's front door, the contract register in a new costume. The revision rations that boundary to one full-strength statement per chapter and converts the rest into affirmative statements of what each feature offers.
Changes by file
ch01/01_invisible_architecture.md: hedge paragraphs converted to affirmative practice statements ("nothing happens in a Phi sentence until everyone it concerns is standing in it"); the design-intervention examples recast from what Phi cannot force to what it makes visible; the blackboard and cabbage wit preserved.ch01/02_language_laboratory.md: two duplicate boundary sentences removed; the clipboard closer and the planned-city material stand as written.ch01/03_what_phi_attempts.md: now carries chapter 1's single full-strength boundary, introduced as such; the scale paragraph reframed from evidence into invitation ("that shelf is where this book is taking you"), with a concrete four-part picture of what the reader will be able to do.ch02/01_what_phi_sounds_like.md: the five first words get their meanings' presence; three separate caution paragraphs folded into one compact pair of honest notes, which is chapter 2's entire boundary budget; accent policy rewritten as companion address ("your accent is welcome so long as the four stay distinct; the words will carry it").ch02/02_your_first_sentence.md: the highest-leverage change. The chapter now honors the design decision it teaches: most languages start you on the weather or a pen; Phi starts you at I love you, and the SOV analysis follows from that ("I, then you, and then, only when both of you are already in the sentence, the love").ch02/03_the_music_of_vowel_hiatus.md: the title earns itself (stairs, not ramps; a passage that walksmia shea phaelostep by step); the listening-evidence apparatus leak replaced with the rule stated as a promise to the learner.ch02/04_ten_essential_words.md: intro names the warmth of the set; the two defensive closers recast as companionable facts ("calling someone melu states your side of the relation; their answer is their own").ch02/05_a_simple_conversation.md: light touches only; the road scene gets a breath of life and the closing gains the twenty-word count.documents/reference/voice_for_models.md: a new anti-pattern row, the waiver (the no-guarantee hedge recurring as furniture; budget of one full-strength statement per chapter in teaching prose), and one sentence in the stamping section noting that caution stamps as readily as flourish. This is the process fix; without it the next sweep would regrow the chill.What was deliberately kept
The honesty is intact: each chapter retains one full boundary statement at full strength, placed where the temptation it answers is strongest. The existing dry wit (the blackboard, the cabbage, the clipboard, "not traffic control") was preserved as the established humor register. No merged Phi block, gloss, or IPA changed.
Checks and audit
Validator: 1,275 entries, 0 errors, 0 warnings; site build passes;
git diff --checkclean. One validator catch during the work: merging thesilerokinship note ontosileta's line made the checker attribute sileta's IPA to silero; the note returned to its own paragraph. Humanizer and batch passes found and fixed: a "trust you with" construction stamped into two files, an invented "eleven words" count (the exchange is twenty), a redundant anti-Whorf clause, British spellings in new prose against the current American ruling, and "deliberately" landing in adjacent files. New prose follows American spelling per the maintainer's standing instruction; pre-existing spellings in untouched sentences were left for the later sweep.
