I have had this issue for some time now and just have been dealing with it and I have tried a bunch of stuff in Troubleshooting and none of it seemed to make any difference.

System specs:

ASUS - ROG Zephyrus G16 16" OLED 2.5K 240Hz Gaming Laptop - Intel Core Ultra 9 - 32GB RAM - NVIDIA RTX 5070 Ti 12GB - 1TB SSD - Eclipse Gray
Model: GU605CR-G16.U95070TI

Basically the issue is randomly I will open a game and it will have 0-30 fps on average which is basically unplayable and I will have to reboot the device to get my 200+ fps back again. The main game this happens in in World of Warcraft Classic, but it happens in other games as well. I am not sure if it is due to me closing my laptops lid and leaving it on (standby mode/hibernate mode) or what because it doesn't happen every time.

Please let me know if there is anything else you need or if there is anything I should change or try I love your app and would love to keep using it but I need to figure out this annoyance lol

How to reproduce the bug?

Not always reproducable but here is what I do:

1. Play a game for the day and the computer has been running for hours if not days
2. Quit Game and close laptop
3. Get up in the morning and open up the laptop
4. Launch the game
5. Notice FPS is really bad
6. Reboot
7. Launch game
8. Everything is good now

To me it seems like something with sleep or hibernate could be causing the GPU powerstate to get stuck or something.

@Bennylavaa hello,

That's likely some firmware issue. Probably related to sleep, so firmware thinks laptop is still sleeping and restricts power or so.

• Does changing any of the settings in the G-Helper (like performance mode, disabling / enabling GPU, etc) restore normal state ? (cause if not - i'm not sure if something can be done from app side here)
• When it happens next try to run Furmark and check how much power GPU draws here ?
• Try to use default Turbo mode instead of custom one (click Factory Defaults), does it keep happening after ?

I remember G14 was suffering from broken sleep like this, capping GPU to 40W randomly. But Asus eventually fixed it with new BIOS update.

No I have tried that and it seems it didnt fix anything only a reboot has fixed it from what I have been able to tell.

Also could it be this is the case: #5345 I just came across this and am wondering if it really is even hibernating

@Bennylavaa no, other issue is unrelated absolutely (and not related to G-Helper directly in a first place). If if hibernates - you will see that laptop boots again with ROG logo, etc.

As for the ROG logo I dont get that I open the laptop and its on the screen where I enter my pin.

That is most likely the cause then I would assume anyway

I did notice this is for battery only which I am always on power is there any way to force hibernate instead of sleep or hibernate x min into sleep? I know this might be an out of scope question so feel free to let me know.

• if you meant Minutes till hibernation in sleep on battery ( 0 - OFF) not working. #5345 is actually cool thing to check. Test latest build from that thread, what does Extra -> Modern standby assist chboxs show you on first run? Is it checked or not ? If not - try to check it and see if laptop would hibernate after some time.

But underlying problem is not hibernation likely, but something between windows sleep and firmware.

Had to wait for it to happen again just happened this morning.

I just turned off modern sleep in the registry to see if that helps
