TypeType for Android is now available in public beta

I am very happy to announce that TypeType for Android is now available in
public beta.

I have been building this native client privately for quite a while. It is
written from the ground up in Kotlin and connects directly to your TypeType
instance. It is not a wrapper around the web client, and it keeps the same
account data, subscriptions, library, settings, and watch progress as the rest
of your instance.

What is included

• Home, search, subscriptions, Continue Watching, history, favorites, Watch
  Later, playlists, and notifications
• Native playback with quality, codec, audio-track, caption, speed, chapter,
  SponsorBlock, queue, comment, and related-video controls
• Background audio, Picture in Picture, mini-player, audio-only mode, and sleep
  timer
• Downloads, multiple instances and accounts, data import, and local cache
  during temporary network interruptions
• Android 6.0 and newer, without requiring Google Play Services

Beta status

This is not a stable release yet. The app is already usable as my daily Android
client, but device-specific decoding, network transitions, playback recovery,
and different self-hosted configurations still need broader real-world testing.

Please expect bugs and changes while the beta continues.

Install

• Install with F-Droid
• View the source and download the signed APK

The app requires access to a compatible TypeType instance.

Feedback

I am genuinely interested in your experience with the app. Long playback
sessions, seeks, Wi-Fi and mobile-data changes, background playback, Picture in
Picture, downloads, unusual codecs, and older Android versions are all useful
tests.

For a reproducible bug, please open a separate issue in the
TypeType Android issue tracker.
Include the app version, Android version, device model, TypeType instance
version, the action that failed, and the redacted diagnostics export when
available.
