[Android beta] Known issues and testing feedback

This issue tracks confirmed limitations and testing priorities for the
TypeType Android public beta.

Beta scope

• Android phones and tablets
• Android 6.0 and newer
• No Google Play Services required
• A compatible TypeType instance is required

Current testing priorities

• long playback sessions;
• forward and backward seeking;
• quality and codec changes;
• SponsorBlock seeks;
• Wi-Fi and mobile-data transitions;
• recovery after losing and regaining connectivity;
• background audio, Picture in Picture, and audio-only playback;
• downloads and process recreation;
• hardware decoding on different devices and older Android versions.

Known issues

Confirmed beta issues and workarounds will be listed here as reports are
investigated.

Report a bug

Please open a
separate bug report
so each problem can be investigated and closed independently.

Include:

• TypeType Android version;
• Android version and device model;
• TypeType instance version or revision;
• video URL when the problem concerns playback;
• exact action, timestamp, quality, and codec when relevant;
• whether the device was using Wi-Fi, mobile data, VPN, or changed networks;
• redacted diagnostics exported from Settings > Diagnostics.
